What this tool does

The Traffic Potential Calculator estimates how many monthly visits a keyword would actually send you at a given ranking position. Enter the monthly search volume and pick a position from 1 to 20, and it applies industry-standard click-through-rate curves to show expected clicks — for your chosen position and for every other position, so you can see exactly what moving up is worth.

The math behind it is the most underappreciated fact in SEO: clicks are brutally top-heavy. Position 1 typically captures a quarter to a third of all clicks, position 5 gets a few percent, and page two might as well not exist. This has two practical consequences. First, 'ranking' for a keyword means little — a position 9 ranking on a 10,000-volume keyword yields fewer visits than position 1 on a 1,500-volume keyword. Second, the highest-ROI SEO work is usually pushing positions 4–10 into the top three, not chasing new keywords from zero.
